Pumpkin Oreo Balls

These Pumpkin Oreo Balls are deliciously rich and chocolatey. They are cute and festive, either for Halloween, or for fall in general. And who doesn't love Oreos?!

Honestly, the most difficult part about making these pumpkins is trying to keep them looking neat. Mine this year didn't turn out quite as neat and tidy as I would have liked. However, I was juggling both a toddler and a newborn, and I wasn't about to spend the kind of time that I normally would. But even with rushing a bit, they still turned out cute! And of course still delicious too!

The recipe itself is super simple, even if decorating might take a little more attention to detail. You really only need a few ingredients.

Start by crushing the Oreos into small crumbs and pieces.
I like to crush cookies with the bottom of a jar. But you could also place the cookies in a food processor. Or place them in a Ziploc bag and crush them with either a mallet or rolling pin.
I had my little helper crushing the cookies with me (and trying to eat some Oreos too!).

Beat together the cream cheese and Oreo crumbs until they are well-combined. Then use a cookie scoop to scoop the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
Once the Oreo balls are all on the baking sheet, place them in the freezer for 15-20 minutes so that they aren’t too soft when dipping in the chocolate.

While the Oreo balls are in the freezer, melt the white chocolate using a double boiler. If you don't have a double boiler, you can mdelt the chocolate in a bowl in the microwave. Just be careful not to burn the chocolate. When the chocolate is fully melted, mix in some orange food coloring.

Break the pretzel sticks into thirds or fourths, so that they are not too long for our pumpkins.
Also, pull out only the green M&M’s. This was a great job for Elayne. She had a lot of fun breaking the pretzels and sorting the M&M’s.

Dip each Oreo ball into the orange chocolate until it is fully covered. I typically try to keep from having too much excess chocolate, because it is very rich. I also try to keep them neat looking, but that can be very difficult to do sometimes.
After dipping each ball in chocolate, stick a piece of pretzel into the top, and add a green M&M to the top.
Allow the pumpkin Oreo balls to harden, either on the counter or in the fridge.
